Some advice please

I think I may have developed my first crush on a girl. Of course I have found girls attractive before, but I’ve never had any “butterflies-in-my-stomach” feelings for a girl.
I started a new job not too long ago, and that’s when I started seeing her. She works nearby, so I see her almost everyday. I don’t know much about her…only her name, and that she has a nice smile and pretty voice. I don’t even know if she’s gay or bisexual. And, even if she was, I don’t know if she’s single…or if she would even be interested in me.
I guess what I would like to know is, how do I go about finding out whether or not a girl is into other girls? I don’t want to assume that just because the way someone is dressed that means they’re gay or straight. And I don’t know if there is a way to find out without just asking it.
Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Best thing first is start some good conversation going with this girl. Then plan something out like drinks dinner whatever. For me I bring up my status and the reaction of the girl is a big sign on if she’s open to it or not.

I often simply state my own sexual orientation or state how beautiful she is, or sometimes will comment on the sexiness of some random woman, and watch her reaction. If she is amiable to it her eyes will usually widen and a smile will happen. If she isnt it is usually a frown or a look of uncomfortableness. Both can be covered up quickly so watch closely for the reaction.
I am not good at this because I am still trying to figure out my approach. However I will try and my intuition tells me that becoming friends with her
would be a great first step. Start chatting and hanging out more with one another. Then after a while you can open up and let her know more about yourself. At that point you will be more comfortable around each other. Once you guys have that comfort level going you can spill the beans and let her know how beautiful you have always thought she was….
